Standard NER Units
Fortress NERs are used to safely control earth fault current and ensure equipment and personnel protection during ground fault events. Suitable for substations, industrial switchboards, and mining power systems, each unit is engineered for compliance and long-term performance.
Bespoke NER Options
When project conditions exceed standard specs, Fortress designs fully tailored NER systems. Options include integrated current and temperature monitoring, switchgear combinations (circuit breakers or vacuum contactors), NET integration, sloped sunroofs, and IP-rated enclosures for outdoor use. Through our Telema partnership, we provide globally benchmarked performance with local engineering support.
Use Case: Earth Fault Limitation
Neutral Earthing Resistors are installed at the transformer or generator neutral to ground point, controlling the magnitude and duration of fault current. This protects equipment, minimises damage, and ensures system stability across high and medium-voltage networks.

To limit earth fault current during a fault event, reducing equipment damage and ensuring safe system behaviour.
Depending on stock and configuration, Fortress can deliver standard NER units in as little as 2 weeks.
Yes – we offer IP-rated enclosures designed for harsh environments and remote locations.
Minimal – routine visual inspection and external cleaning are usually sufficient.
NERs are designed to IEEE C57.32a-2020, IEC 60076-25, AS/NZS 60076-25, and AS/NZS 2081-2011. Enclosures can also be engineered to meet AS 1170 wind, seismic and snow load criteria.
Please provide system voltage, current rating, fault duration, and any relevant engineering standards (e.g. AS/NZS 2081-2011).
